Lenberland, August 31 – A new type of networking?

Social networking is one of the common phrases we use today. We are hive creatures. We want to be a part of something such as a particular community, a social group, or an association. Networking helps us bond together. Well, what about solar panels? Do they want to get together? The Mayor of Lenberland County announced its plan to install network-connected batteries across the city of Blooming, beginning in December. The county passed the related legislation on August 28. The elaborated plan, which was originally designed and structured by the city council in collaboration with local construction companies in Lenberland, will be implemented in December.

As of August 1, about 782 households in the city have installed solar panels on the roofs of their houses, according to the data released by the local government. The plan aims to connect the cables of those solar panels to seize electricity and store the energy in mega-size vanadium batteries. This system allows households to draw on the stored electricity during peak hours. Matthew Floyden, the mayor, remarks, “This will lead to alleviating huge pressure on electricity demand from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays. It will prevent a sudden power outage like the one that occurred last winter.”

“The vanadium batteries can store enough amount of electricity one household uses in a month,” observes Willy Bookman, who will be in charge of operating, monitoring, and maintaining the system.

At the end of this year, the results of the Blooming’ preliminary installation will be evaluated by a committee, composed of 2 executive members of a local energy provider, 5 engineers of Gugen Construction, and 7 city council members. Thereafter, the project may be extended to the entire Lenberland. All the solar panels in Lenberland may be interconnected by 2037.
